What is "Tell Me Your Story"

"Tell Me Your Story" is a guided app that helps you connect with your loved ones (like your parents or grandparents) and capture their life stories. Your loved one receives one thoughtful question at a time, which they can answer in their own voice (audio), with a photo, or by writing. All these memories are collected in a private feed for you to enjoy and are used to build a beautiful digital and physical keepsake book.

How do I start a project with my parent?

The app is designed for you (the "Interviewer") to start the project. You'll sign up, create a new project for your parent, and send them a simple invitation link (via email or text). When they sign up using your link, your accounts will be automatically connected, and they will receive their first question.

My parent isn't very tech savvy, is this easy for them to use?

Yes, we designed the app with this exact concern in mind. The "Storyteller" (your parent) has an extremely simple, clean interface.

They only see one question at a time, so it never feels overwhelming.

They have large, clear buttons to "Record Audio," "Write Story," or "Add Photo."

They don't need to remember a password; they can use a secure "magic link" sent to their email or phone.

How does the question queue work?

You, the Interviewer, are in charge of the questions. You can add questions from our curated question bank (covering all life stages) or ask your own custom questions at any time from your Dashboard. These questions are added to a private queue. Your parent only sees the one question that is currently "active," preventing them from feeling pressured by a long list. When they answer or skip a question, the next one in the queue automatically appears.

Who can see my family's stories?

Your family's project is 100% private and secure. The only people who can see the stories are the "Storyteller" (your parent) and the "Interviewer(s)" (you, and anyone else you explicitly invite to the project). These stories are not shared publicly or with any other users.

How do I get a physical book?

The physical keepsake book is a one-time, separate purchase. From the "Book" tab in your app, you can preview your book, customize the cover and title, and place an order. We partner with a high-quality, print-on-demand service to create and ship your beautiful, permanent family heirloom.
